The Memorial Day Flag Display will be provided by the Mooresville Lake-Norman Exchange Club. With over forty volunteers the display will have more than 500 full-size American flags to honor those who have served this great country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Join us this weekend at the Lowe’s YMCA Field in Mooresville.
Every Flag has a Story
Each flag represents an individual and their story of bravery.
Kim Saragoni is the president of the Mooresville-Lake Norman Exchange Club. She has three flags on the the field that represent her cherished ones who served. Two are for her grandfather, Sergeant Edward S. Abdo, who died serving in the Marine Corps during World War II. The other is in reminiscence of her uncle, Lieutenant Lawrence Douglas Knuth, who died serving in the Marine Corps during Vietnam.
The display this weekend represents healing and closure and is a place where the entire community can now show their appreciation to all who have served our country.
There will be a commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Lowe’s YMCA Field.
Directly From WCNC
All proceeds from the flags will go to the Mooresville-Lake Norman Exchange Club who will distribute the earnings to its pillars of service, including youth programs, community service, Americanism, and its national project of child abuse prevention.
